My Communion
Book
Since the introduction of Common Worship demand has been extremely high for material to help parishes use Common Worship with children. Designed to meet that need, this fully-revised edition of My Communion Book helps children gain a better understanding of Holy Communion. Primarily aimed at 4 to 8 year olds, it can be used initially as a sharing book with adult and child reading together, but children can also use it on their own. Written by Diana Murrie, the Church of England's National Children's Officer, the book takes the child through the service, explaining key words and asking questions that relate directly to the child. The book helps them to engage with the service of Holy Communion in a fun, interesting and meaningful way. With full colour illustrations throughout, the book helps the child understand the structure of the service and the purpose of each section.
"Our children are just as much a part
of today's church as of tomorrow's and this guide, suitable for
all versions of the Common Worship service, can help
to enhance the worship of us all."
Rachel Stowe writing in Mother's Union, May 2002.

Come and
Join the Celebration
Come and Join the Celebration helps adults and children to explore the service of Holy Communion together - helping everyone involved to participate more fully. The book provides guidance on how to help children understand the liturgy, activities related to the service for use in church with 2-6 year olds, resource sheets for 7-11 year olds and ideas for additional uses. A total of 50 photocopiable activity sheets are included. Come and Join the Celebration is written by John Muir, recently retired as Vicar of Sowerby in Wakefield Diocese, and Betty Pedley, Parish Education Adviser (Children) for the Missionary Diocese of Wakefield.
"Come and Join the Celebration is the
plea of many churches inviting children and their families to
gather in worship. Using John and Betty's enormously helpful
book will be an invaluable tool as churches seek to make the
plea a reality."
Revd Mark Beach, Chaplain to the Bishop of Wakefield and
author of Using Common Worship: Holy Communion.
