RSS

The Church of England now offers RSS feeds, delivering the latest information on the Church's work and mission to the nation direct to your desktop.

The Church of England News RSS feed is available at http://www.cofe.anglican.org/news/news.rss

Please note that this page will appear in ‘computer language’ and is only accessible through a RSS ‘reader’ or ‘aggregator’. Read on to find out how to download one of these pieces of software.

What is RSS?

RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication. It is a way of delivering material electronically, through a piece of software to your computer. Once you have set it up, which takes just a few minutes, the software will display the latest news from the Church of England with a summary and link back to this site which will show you the full story.

Once you have set up the news feed, our headlines will constantly be updated in your 'RSS reader' (whenever you are connected to the internet) without you having to do anything. This means you don't have to keep revisiting this site just to check for news updates. They come direct to you; unless you request to unsubscribe from the service.

How do I use RSS feeds?

To view our RSS feeds you will need special software called a 'feed reader' or 'feed aggregator'. Feed readers can be downloaded free from the internet - just use a search engine to look for one suitable for your computer, or use one of these popular versions:

WINDOWS                MAC OS X                WEB-BASED

Newz Crawler            Newsfire                    Bloglines

FeedDemon               Net NewsWire           NewsGator

Please note that the Church of England is not responsible for the content of external internet sites or services.

Once you have installed a reader you can add Church of England RSS feeds, along with feeds from other providers (many people use the BBC's RSS feeds, for instance). Setting up a feed differs from one reader/aggregator to another, but the next step usually involves copying the URL of the feed (given at the top of this page) and pasting it into the reader.

You will be able to access instructions on exactly how to do this once you have downloaded your reader or aggregator.
