The following announcement was made by Downing Street this morning:

 

 

“The Queen has been pleased to approve that the Most Reverend Dr John Tucker Mugabi Sentamu, Archbishop of York, be sworn of Her Majesty’s most honourable Privy Council.”

Note to Editors

 

The Privy Council is a body of senior ministers, senior judges and others that advises The Queen on certain decisions that fall to her, both under statute and under the royal prerogative. Membership is for life.

The election of Dr John Sentamu as Archbishop of York was confirmed at a ceremony in London yesterday (October 5th). He will be enthroned as Archbishop at York Minster on November 30th.
