Senior Selection Secretary appointed

The Revd Stephen Ferns has succeeded Mrs Margaret Sentamu as Senior Selection Secretary in the Ministry Division of the Archbishops’ Council of the Church of England. Stephen was previously a Selection Secretary and the Vocations Officer within the Division.
The Senior Selection Secretary runs the Ministry Division unit responsible for the process of selecting candidates for ordained and accredited lay ministry.
“Some of the key challenges,” said Stephen Ferns, “will be to encourage more vocations to ordained ministry from those under 30 and from those from minority ethnic backgrounds and to engage in the on-going discernment of what kind of ordained ministry the Church of England requires at this time.”
Before joining the Ministry Division, Stephen Ferns’ served as a curate, as a university chaplain and as a vicar in Durham Diocese and as Domestic Chaplain to the Bishop of Blackburn.
