Communications Training expands horizons

26 September 2005

Details of the Church of England’s 2006 Communications Training courses are being sent to all the Church’s paid clergy for the first time.

“Thanks to the popularity of the Communications Training website,” explained the Revd Martin Short, Head of Communications Training at Church House, Westminster, “we only needed to produce a flyer this year to point people to the site, instead of a 20-page programme. All the course details are on www.commstraining.cofe.anglican.org and most people now book online.

“Then there was the chance to piggy-back on a Church House Publishing mailing which meant we could put news of the courses onto vicarage doormats.

“That was particularly helpful this year as we are taking our training on the road and doing a lot of the courses in Manchester, bringing them closer to clergy and parishioners in the North.”

The Church of England has been helping people work with the media for more than 20 years by offering training courses. In recent years, the training has been increasingly supported by many other Christian churches as well.
