  •  We liked the material on THE CALL OF GOD (Activities section), but used it differently.
Our parish is one of a group of 4 churches.  Each year we have an opportunity to join a group (made up of members of any of the congregations) and commit ourselves to a “Sharing in Prayer” week.  All participants meet together at the beginning of the week for a short service and discussion of the agreed ‘prayer framework’ we each follow daily during the week. At the end of the week we meet again for discussion, prayer together  – and a meal!
The seven bible passages and prayers in ‘The Call of God’ activity worked brilliantly for this  – giving us one character to reflect on each day.  It really helped us pray about God’s calling to each one of us in our lives.
  • The BILLY ELLIOTT questions (Activities section) worked really well with our group.
We had such lively and interesting discussions that people then wanted to watch the film again, to see if it stimulated more thoughts on the vocations questions!
  • We used HOW DOES GOD CALL PEOPLE? (Activities section) on our Vocation Sunday.
For our closing worship we included the Meditation on the website (‘Bible People – Meditation for Worship’) – but we added another character too – Zacchaeus.  We did this so that we could include a reflection on the calling to do our work honestly and for the good of all – and being called to undertake actions that reflect and witness to our beliefs.
  • One parish in our diocese reported that they had found the "Activities section" useful for developing their Vocations Sunday worship (more useful than the worship section!).
They combined an adaptation of the  ‘No Hands but Ours’ reflection with an idea out of the Activities for Congregations – using cut-out life sized hands and inviting each person to write on how they are called to participate in God’s activity in the world.  These were then fixed to pillars.
