  • How would you describe Francis in the first picture?  (Think of his expression / posture / position in the picture?)
Would this be a position you would ever adopt when trying to listen to Christ?  Why, or why not?
  • Look at the picture of the ‘cross that spoke to Francis’.
What details in the painting of Christ do you think are particularly significant?
Are any of these important to your thinking about your calling and Christian vocation?
  • Francis heard a call to rebuild the church.   At first he interpreted this literally, but later recognised there were also other dimensions of “rebuilding the church”.
Can you think of examples of God’s calling (to you or others) when an understanding of this calling has developed over time?
