There are no proposals within the terms of service regulations that will affect which individuals or bodies exercise the right of appointment to any post. However, the fact that there will be a right of appeal to an employment tribunal for unfair dismissal claims will mean that the same route could be followed, likely to be on equal opportunities grounds, if best practice is absent from the appointment process in terms of openness and proper decision making. It will be essential that all those involved in appointments act in appropriate ways to avoid claims of unfair process being made by unsuccessful applicants. Hopefully, some training will be available to support people working in these areas.
