Integrating IME1-3 and IME 4-7

A Contribution to the Formation for Ministry Debate Forum

Hind talks about as much integration as possible between IME 1 - 3 and 4 - 7.  In the SE Region we can set about that with our Regional Course (SEITE) but of course many of our curates are trained elsewhere.  Has anyone any insight about how other Colleges etc are setting about this sense of integration?  For example, Hind sees that the pre-ordination phase has become very crowded with more elements added over the years and suggests that some things might be left until 4 - 7.  Which elements?  Or are Colleges and Courses guarding their own curricula to ensure they are seen to give 'value for money'?

The new Pathways documents which come into effect from September 2008 give us quite a different way of planning a person's formation and training.  Mostly that is easy - but has anyone any ideas about providing suitable training for Band 1 and Band 2 people who will need some sort of shorter or tailored course.  In particular, how are Regional Courses responding to the challenge of providing a 2 year Course rather than the normal 3 year Course?

Hind talks about collaborative training of ALMs, Ordinands, Readers and laity.  From a personal view I support this idea and believe that training together will lead to better collaboration during ministerial life, but others are very concerned about the differentiation between the different ministries, particularly in terms of formation.  Has anyone any material or experience on this please?
