Online Vocations and Podcasts

Eighteen would-be priests – all teenagers – attending the Church of England’s first specially organised vocations conference for young people in more than 30 years are to continue meeting on Facebook as they listen to their calling.

Held at Westcott House and Ridley Hall theological colleges in Cambridge, the Call Waiting… Conference 2009 conference offered engaging talks from priests serving in the Church and a chance to ‘grill’ an ordinand as a group.

“I just had a vision of myself in a cassock and surplice as an Anglican vicar. I kept coming back to this idea and then I kept reading the Bible more and more, and I had a huge passion to actually teach the Bible,” says Cambridge ordinand Emma Johnson (pictured above), who shared her experiences with potential ordinands at the Call Waiting Conference 2009 . They intend to continue the conference online, having set up a group on Facebook, to encourage one another to listen to their ‘calling’.
