• In 2006 £102.7 million was spent on pension contributions for clergy who were in service before 1998. Pensions earned since are paid from a separate scheme funded by contributions from dioceses and other Church bodies.
• In 2006 £32.4 million was spent on parish ministry.
• £4.5 million of this was for the Parish Mission Fund, an initiative that provides resources for innovative work undertaken by churches in their local communities. In the past, funds have gone to projects such as a children’s project encouraging positive alternatives to crime and anti social behaviour; and a community centre offering space to serve young people, asylum seekers, and people with mental health difficulties.
• The performance over the last decade means that the Commissioners can distribute £43 million more to the Church each year than if their investments had performed only at the industry average.
