Do you have a Call Waiting? Young people thinking about the ordained ministry can now take their future one step further through a national campaign featuring a new website, a glossy magazine full of vital information and profiles, along with a range of eye-catching posters.

Audio interviews with real-life young ordinands, curates and priests on the Call Waiting website share stages of the journey from that first sense of calling. These interviews are accompanied by other articles including:

  • An introduction by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
  • An outline of the stages between the first meeting with a parish priest to explore a calling to ministry, and the final stage, a Bishops’ Advisory Panel.
  • A glossary of Church jargon.
  • Helpful prayers.
  • A feature on people with callings in the Bible.

The Call Waiting magazine Vocations contains a selection of all of this information and the posters feature priests performing some of the many ministries within the Church of England from an army chaplain and a pioneer minister running services in a pub to the lives of current ordinands.

The Ven. Christopher Lowson, Director of Ministry Division for the Archbishops’ Council, says: “I am one of those who first felt called to be a priest at 13. Lots of young people also have a sense of call today. Call Waiting is a great way of helping them to explore that vocation: to discover what God may be calling them to be and to do.”
