An independent group, chaired by Peter Bottomley MP, has been set up to examine whether the Churches Main Committee – the forum for co-ordinated interface between the UK's Christian denominations and Jewish groups, and local and national government – best reflects the needs of the churches and faith communities today. The group will consider whether the Committee's membership should be widened to embrace other faith communities, in particular so as to improve the efficiency of consultation with Government.
The review group wishes to consult widely and will welcome views on any aspect of the Churches Main Committee's work. Correspondence should be addressed to Philip James, Secretary to the CMC Review Group, c/o Church Commissioners, 1 Millbank, London SW1P 3JZ; e-mail cmc.review@c-of-e.org.uk
