In November 2005. the House of Bishops published 'Promoting a Safe Church: policy for safeguarding adults in the Church of England' in response to the Department of Health guidance and recommendations from the CTBI report 'Time for Action'. It includes an example of a policy and good practice for those in positions of trust or those working with vulnerable adults as well as procedures to follow if abuse is suspected or occurs. The policy has been endorsed by the House of Bishops as the minimum requirement for all those in the Church who are involved in such work.
Promoting a Safe Church is also available as a web download.
