In July 2009 the General Synod considered a response (GS Misc 1744) prepared by the Archbishops’ Council’s Mission and Public Affairs Division to ‘A Good Childhood’, a report commissioned by The Children’s Society and published in February 2009. The report before Synod aimed to help the Church “be adult about childhood in order to let children flourish” and highlighted areas where Christian churches and agencies could offer distinctive responses to the report’s findings. In addition to taking note of the report, Synod carried a motion renewing its commitment to enriching childhood by helping young people to discover the Christian faith.
