Council for Christian Unity

Serving the Church of England’s ecumenical and inter-Church relationships

The Church of England is committed to fostering the visible unity of presently separated Christian churches.

The Council for Christian Unity (CCU) supports the Church of England in seeking the unity of the Christian Church through ecumenical conversations, local unity initiatives, theological research and reflection.

The Church of England is in communion with Churches and Provinces of the Anglican Communion and with a number of other overseas Churches.

The Church of England is a member of the World Council of Churches and of the Conference of European Churches.

In matters of theology, the House of Bishops and CCU support the Faith and Order Advisory Group.

CCU’s practical work  is then divided into two sections:

CCU also produces occasional papers and supplies a variety of publications offering practical advice and theological reflection on a range of ecumenical matters.
