Dioceses Pastoral and Mission Measure 2007

The Dioceses Commission’s work is governed by parts I and II and Schedules 1 and 2 of the Dioceses Pastoral and Mission Measure 2007. The full text of the Measure is available from the Office of Public Sector Information : download

Working under a general duty to have regard to the mission of the Church of England, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical, the duties of the Commission fall into three broad areas which are explained on different pages within this area of the web-site: These are:

Two Sections of the Measure, relating to the duty of the bishop to keep episcopal ministry under review (section 12) and filling suffragan sees (section 17), are not yet in force. Further information about these can be found on the pages relating to suffragan sees.

Guidance

The Commission has also issued guidance on the operation of certain sections of the Measure which may be downloaded from the guidance page.

Pastoral Reorganisation

Other parts of the Measure deal with the making of better provision for mission and ministry within a diocese.
