DCS Benefits

The benefits provided by the DCS are:

  • a pension based on the contributions made and bonuses declared
  • the option of taking a tax free cash sum at retirement and a lower amount of pension
  • a death in service lump sum of twice annual final pensionable salary
  • a spouse’s pension payable on death before retirement

There is no automatic spouse’s pension payable on death in retirement but members have the option at retirement to exchange part of their pension to provide one.
