Central Secretariat

Under the direction of the Clerk to the Synod and Head of Central Secretariat, staff of the Central Secretariat provide the secretariat for the General Synod, its three Houses (House of Bishops, House of Clergy and House of Laity), the Archbishops' Council and the Business, Appointments and Standing Orders Committees. Members of staff of the Secretariat serve as secretaries to a number of the Synod's principal commissions and committees and also as secretaries of ad hoc committees and working parties as required. They also serve various other groups. The Clerk to the Synod acts as Secretary to the Business Committee and provides advice and assistance as necessary to synodical bodies and members of Synod.

The Central Secretariat includes the Council for Christian Unity and Research & Statistics.
